AEW Dynamite Results (8/19/2026): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show opens up with Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz welcoming us and they give us a run down of the loaded card for tonight’s Dynamite.
Will Ospreay’s music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night. Henare and Francesco Akira then make their way down to the ring next and Don Callis Family follow.
Trios Match: “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay and The United Empire (HENARE and Francesco Akira) vs. Don Callis Family (“The Machine” Brian Cage, Rocky “Azucar” Romero and “The Murderhawk Monster” Lance Archer)
The match starts off with Will Ospreay and Brian Cage and Cage sends Ospreay to the corner for some shoulder charges. Ospreay then escapes, getting an opening with an enziguiri that sends Cage flying to his corner. A tag is then made to Romero and Ospreay tags in Akira, who takes Romero down hard for a near fall. A tag is then made to HENARE and Romero immediately tags out to Archer. Both men then trade forearm and elbow strikes before HENARE tries to take Archer off his feet, only for Archer to nail HENARE with a shoulder tackle of his own. He then sends HENARE to the corner for some chops before HENARE fights out of the corner with some of his own.
He then ends up dropping Archer to a knee with a kick before tagging in Ospreay and they double team Archer before tagging in Akira for a 3-person move that gets a near fall. Archer then gets back to his feet, sending Akira down hard before knocking Ospreay and HENARE off the apron. Cage and Akira are now back in the ring as Cage makes short work of Akira. Akira then manages to dodge Cage, who bumps into Archer as a result. This then gives a chance to make the tag to HENARE, who hits some hard shots on Cage. Cage then dodges a kick for a roll up, but HENARE rolls through and hits a kick on Cage anyway.
Archer then gets a tag as he goes after HENARE, sending him to the corner for a Blackout but HENARE counters into a deadlift German suplex. Archer is now back up and he makes a tag to Romero just as Ospreay gets the tag as well. Ospreay then gets some shots in on Romero for a near fall as the rest of the field comes in. Chaos then ensues as they trade shots on each other, eventually leaving us with Romero and Ospreay. Romero then tries to use the referee as a shield, but ends up getting taken to the mat by Akira. Archer and Cage then come in, but get sent right back outside for a dive by Akira. Romero is back up, charging to the corner for what ends up just being a pose and this costs him as he is blindsided by a Hidden Blade from Ospreay for the win.
The winners of the Trios Match, “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay and The United Empire (HENARE and Francesco Akira)!
After the match, Ospreay celebrates the win with some fans in the front row as he is joined by his pals.
We are then reminded of the 3-Way Match for the International Title at All In and we head to the back, where we hear from Kazuchika Okada about it. Okada says nothing is more important than family unlike Konosuke Takeshita who left the Family because he is too selfish. Okada then says Kyle Fletcher isn’t willing to make the same mistake because he understands that the only thing that matters is the title stays in the Don Callis Family. Okada then says if the match ends with Fletcher retaining the title, he’ll be happy for Fletcher but if it ends with him becoming the new champion, Fletcher should be happy for him and raise his hand.
We then head to ringside, where Tony Schiavone introduces Kyle Fletcher. Schiavone says he wants to get his thoughts on what Kazuchika Okada said moments ago and Fletcher says we’re in the midst of the greatest International Championship reign of all time. Fletcher then says there is no reason to think it will end anytime soon, especially not at Wembley Stadium. Fletcher then says he agrees with Okada that family means everything and he trusts Don Callis enough to trust this plan. The crowd then let’s Fletcher know what they think with a “f–k Don Callis” chant and Fletcher says Okada needs to know his role in this.
Fletcher then says if Okada is a man of his word and believes family is all that matters, he’ll make sure to have his back in making sure he retains the title. Fletcher then says there is one other thing they have in common and that’s that they hate Konosuke Takeshita. He then pokes fun at Takeshita losing the G1 Climax but is interrupted by the arrival of Takeshita, who makes a beeline for the ring. Both men then go at each other until Fletcher hits a half and half on Takeshita. He then hits the ropes looking for another shot, but runs into a Blue Thunder Bomb by Takeshita They then counter holds before Fletcher gets sent into the corner, setting him up for a poisonrana by Takeshita followed by a Power Drive Knee and a Raging Fire. Takeshita then stands tall over Fletcher, holding his title up high.
Commentary then wonders where Okada is. Commentary then hypes up what else is to come tonight.
We then head to the back for a sit-down interview with Renee Paquette, where Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega talk about their history together to start things off. Some time after facing each other in PWG, they went at it again in New Japan Pro Wrestling a couple years back at Wrestle Kingdom, something that Omega addresses as fans thinks he was facing the new face of the company. Omega then says the company did not see Ospreay’s name alone as drawing people in and they needed to bring him in. Ospreay then addresses the difference in conditions they had during their respective eras, particularly focused on how they handled things in the midst of the COVID pandemic.
He then addresses having to take 15 hour flights to stay in a hotel no bigger than a broom closet for two weeks just to compete, whereas Omega got spoiled on 3 hour drives. Omega then retorts by saying things were rough in the U.S. during that time thanks to the lack of fans, among other things and even if fans could cheer in Japan, there’s no telling if they would. They then fast forward to five months past that, with Omega addressing their match at Forbidden Door. Omega then runs Ospreay down for recruiting Don Callis for that match. They then go back and forth about how they embarrassed each other at different points and the fact that Don Callis got involved near the end. Ospreay then admits it bothers him how fans call that a tainted victory, with Omega forgivins Ospreay for it.
Omega then says that All In is not a rubber match since for all intents and purposes he has already beaten Ospreay twice and this is just a desperate attempt for Ospreay to prove that he is on Omega’s level. The topic then turns to how Omega’s life and career has changed since dealing with diverticulitis, something Omega is annoyed about as he admits he’s had to change but it’s for the better. Omega then asks Ospreay if he’s fully healed from that broken neck of his, running the challenger down some more before Ospreay cuts him off for bringing up MJF in all this. He then talks about proving that he can become the first Englishman to win the world title on home soil and doing so without the help of Don Callis or the Death Riders.
Ospreay then says he knows he can do this on his own, but Omega says he has already proven he can’t beat him and this time it will be in front of his family. He then says win, lose, or draw, he’s sure Ospreay’s mom will be proud of him but his son might need to find a new hero when his dad can’t win the title. Ospreay is then held back from going after Omega as Dynamite continues on.
Hikaru Shida then makes her way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Persephone follows as we get a promo from earlier with both women addressing what happened at Collision. Kris Statlander then makes her way down to the ring next and Maya World follows as we get this match underway.
