Former TNA star Joe Doering has sadly passed away after battling brain cancer for almost ten years.
Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling took to Twitter and announced on June 26, 2026, that Doering died peacefully at 9:13 a.m. surrounded by his family. He was only 44 years old. The promotion paid tribute to how much life Doering packed into his time here.
“At 9:13 a.m. today, June 26, our brother Joe Doering passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. Though his time on this earth lasted only 44 years, Joe packed a thousand years’ worth of living into every one of them.”
Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling also noted that Doering is survived by his wife, Lindsay, his family, and the many fans and friends who followed his journey.
“Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Lindsay, his family, and leaves behind countless friends and devoted fans around the world who will forever remember his strength, courage, and spirit. “Rest in peace, Joe. You will never be forgotten.”
Doering’s passing comes just days after his family shared that he was preparing to enter hospice care. His sister-in-law, Mandy Banh, had posted an update on his GoFundMe page on June 23, 2026, asking for prayers and support.
“Sad to share the news that Joe is heading to hospice soon. If anyone is local & would want to visit, please send a message. Joe could use all your good thoughts and prayers.”
Doering had been fighting his third brain tumor. He was first diagnosed in 2016, and in 2022, he revealed the cancer had returned and that he needed surgery again. His family later explained that he was approaching ten years of battling brain cancer while dealing with another tumor.
“As my brother in-law approaches 10 years of battling Brain Cancer, he finds himself in the midst of battling a third brain tumor.”
His health battle also changed his daily life in a major way. After brain surgery in 2022 on his brain stem, Doering developed ataxia on his right side, which badly affected his mobility and left him relying mostly on a wheelchair.
“After Joe’s last brain surgery in 2022, located on his brain stem, he developed ataxia on his right side, which has greatly impacted his mobility.”
Even then, his family said he kept working through physiotherapy and stayed positive despite needing help with stairs, a walker, and basic movement.
“However despite this great challenge, Joe has remained determined, focused, and most of all- in good spirits!”
Doering built a respected career across TNA Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling. He also had a brief run under a WWE developmental deal in 2010. In Japan, he became a two-time Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion in All Japan Pro Wrestling, and later joined TNA in 2020 as part of Violent By Design.
This is an awful loss for the wrestling world. Joe Doering fought longer and harder than most people could imagine, and he leaves behind a legacy of strength, toughness, and respect from fans around the world.
