Joe Doering’s battle with brain cancer has taken a heartbreaking turn.
An update shared on Doering’s GoFundMe page by his sister-in-law, Mandy Banh, revealed that the former TNA Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling star is preparing to enter hospice care. Doering has been fighting brain cancer for nearly a decade, and this latest update makes it clear just how serious things have become.
“Sad to share the news that Joe is heading to hospice soon. If anyone is local & would want to visit, please send a message. Joe could use all your good thoughts and prayers.”
Doering has been dealing with his third brain tumor. He was first diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2016, then revealed in 2022 that the cancer had returned and surgery was needed again.
His family launched a GoFundMe last November to help with medical costs and the strain his condition has placed on his household. In that message, Banh explained that Doering was approaching ten years of fighting brain cancer while facing another tumor.
“As my brother in-law approaches 10 years of battling Brain Cancer, he finds himself in the midst of battling a third brain tumor.”
The situation has also changed Doering’s daily life in a major way. After brain surgery in 2022, which was performed on his brain stem, he developed ataxia on his right side. That has badly affected his mobility and left him relying mostly on a wheelchair.
“After Joe’s last brain surgery in 2022, located on his brain stem, he developed ataxia on his right side, which has greatly impacted his mobility.”
Banh said Doering has continued working hard through physiotherapy, but he needs help with stairs, a walker, and basic transitioning. She also noted that the change has been massive for someone who spent years as a professional athlete. Despite all of that, Doering has continued to fight the battle privately and with a strong attitude.
“However despite this great challenge, Joe has remained determined, focused, and most of all- in good spirits!”
Doering built a respected career across several major promotions. He had a brief run under a WWE developmental deal in 2010, became a two-time Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion in All Japan Pro Wrestling, and later joined TNA Wrestling in 2020 as part of Violent By Design.
This latest update is devastating for fans who have followed Doering’s career and his health battle over the years. He has already pushed through more than most people could imagine, and now his family is asking for good thoughts, prayers, and support as he prepares for hospice care.
