Dominik Mysterio took a brutal shot to the head during his AAA Rey de Reyes title defense—but according to him, his biggest concern in the moment wasn’t the injury, it was his hair.

After previously showing off the nasty cut on social media, Dominik opened up about what really happened during an April 15, 2026 appearance on The Burn Factor. And instead of focusing on pain, he made it clear his mindset immediately went somewhere else after the chair shot.

“I made the crucial mistake—so it was about a seven or eight centimeter-long, big-ass gash on my head… I took a chair shot to the head, and I didn’t put my hands up—unprotected—and yeah, it sliced me across the head.”

Despite the severity of the cut, Dominik admitted his first reaction was worrying about whether doctors would shave his head to treat it. Medical staff ended up using glue instead of stitches—but that didn’t make things easier, especially with multiple shows still to film that same day.

“At the time… I was like, man… they’re going to want to shave my head. I was like, no staples, no stitches—just glue me… worst-case scenario, you guys have to shave around it or something. Don’t touch it. So what they did was they glued it together… but the issue was we were filming three shows that day. This happened on the first show… it reopened, so they put a second layer of glue on it.”

Dominik also described how the blood from the cut collected in his hair during the match, making things even messier as the night went on. Even after everything, he pushed through the rest of the tapings and immediately shifted back to WWE commitments the next day.

“All the blood was in my hair… it was at the top of my head, so as it was dripping, it was getting caught in my hair… then it just dried in my hair. So I was like, ‘My shit’s all crusty now.’ We’ve just got to bang this out… it was Saturday, and then I had to fly to San Antonio the next day for TV on Monday.”

And while the injury has healed, Dominik made it clear the aftermath is still something he’s dealing with—just not in the way most would expect: “I wouldn’t say it was painful afterwards… it was more just dealing with my hair… now I’ve just got to figure out how to get this damn glue out of my hair.”

Mysterio took a chair to the head, split himself open, and still kept going—but through all of it, the one thing he refused to compromise on was his hair. That ultimately sums up where his priorities were in that moment.

Do you think Dominik Mysterio worrying more about his hair than the injury is wild, or does it just show how locked in wrestlers are during matches? Let us know your thoughts.
