Demolition is finally opening up about their WWE Hall of Fame induction—and it didn’t go exactly how they planned, as their speech was cut significantly.

While speaking on the Demopod podcast, Bill Eadie and Barry Darsow opened up about their induction—and made it clear their speech didn’t go exactly how they envisioned. Ax first explained how rehearsals were in place and how the pressure of the moment caused him to adjust on the fly, even leading to an unintentional omission during his speech.

“Well, they had us go out there and rehearse it a few times. And I have to admit, I got off track because when I got out there, I rethought some of the lines that I had submitted. And actually, one of the things my wife mentioned to me right after is I forgot to thank Barry for his contribution to the team. I didn’t mean to slight him, but I just wanted to emphasize the activity of the current people in the business and the production… So it was a stressful time, and I wish we could have gone longer. I understand we had a time frame, but I was happy with how it came out.”

He added that part of his focus shifted toward acknowledging the current WWE production team—something he felt strongly about given the pressure they face, even if it meant missing other key mentions in the moment. Smash then detailed how dramatically his original speech had to be cut down once WWE gave them strict time limits before the ceremony.

“Yeah, and when they first were telling us to do all this, I had a speech that was going to be about a half hour long… And then when they came to us and said, ‘You had six minutes’—and six minutes between both of us—they said yes. And it was like, ‘Well, how am I going to take three minutes and Bill take three minutes?’”

He made it clear that trimming decades of memories into just a few minutes wasn’t easy, especially for a moment as significant as a Hall of Fame induction. Smash also addressed what happened after the ceremony, noting that even going slightly over time may have affected how their speeches were later presented on WWE’s platforms.

“So we went over the time limit, but it’s almost like—you’re getting inducted into the Hall of Fame—how can you just not really tell what you’re thinking? And I noticed afterwards on the WWE site, they just have a couple of words that I said and they have Bill’s whole speech… it’s because we went over the time limit, I’m sure.”

At the end of the day, Demolition got their moment—but not the full version they had planned. WWE kept things on a tight schedule, while Ax and Smash had to cut down years of stories into just a few minutes. It just shows that even a Hall of Fame speech comes with limits.

Do you think WWE should give Hall of Fame inductees more freedom and time for their speeches, or does the time limit make sense for the show format? Let us know your thoughts.
