Damian Priest just stabbed R-Truth in the back on the September 11, 2026 episode of WWE SmackDown, and he waited until after their tag team title match to do it. Priest and Truth came up short against The War Raiders before Priest made it clear their partnership was officially over.
Priest and R-Truth challenged Erik and Ivar for the AAA World Tag Team Championships, but The War Raiders controlled much of the match before eventually putting Truth away with their finisher.
Things initially looked fine between Priest and Truth after the bell. Priest approached his partner and offered him a handshake before the two embraced in the middle of the ring.
That was the setup. Priest suddenly turned on Truth and blasted him with a clothesline, leaving his tag team partner laid out after their championship loss. The attack comes after Priest and Truth had been teaming together as Wepa Up, but there wasn’t much ambiguity about Priest’s message once the match was over. One hug later, the team was finished.
Now the big question is what pushed Damian Priest over the edge and whether R-Truth will be looking for payback.
What do you think about Damian Priest turning on R-Truth? Was it the right move for his character, or should WWE have kept them together? Let us know what you think in the comments.
