Dakota Kai did not see her WWE release coming, especially because she felt like things were finally starting to move in the right direction for her.

While speaking to Ring The Belle, Charlie looked back at her final stretch in WWE and the reaction from fans after she was let go. The host pointed out that she had just returned with a new theme song and presentation before everything changed. Charlie agreed, saying that was part of why the release hit her the way it did.

“I know. I had a new song.”

It was then noted that fans were shocked when the release happened. Charlie admitted that she was caught off guard too, because it felt like she was finally getting some real momentum again.

“I know. Yeah. It was one of those things where I thought, I’m finally getting some traction. I got a new song and things like that. So, it caught me off guard, too. But, I mean, at the end of the day, it is business. You know what I mean? For better or for worse.”

Charlie didn’t sit there and bury WWE over it. Instead, she framed it as part of the business and said she can now focus on doing what she loves.

“And now I can just do what I love and just go out there, and I got a whole bucket list of girlies I want to wrestle.”

She also explained why she didn’t rush right back into wrestling after leaving. Charlie said she needed time away from the ring for her body, her mind, and her emotions.

“I needed to take a step back from wrestling, just because mentally, as well as physically and emotionally, I wanted to come back when the time was right for a good reason.”

Charlie said she was away from wrestling for almost a year, and that break made her realize she missed it. Once that feeling came back, she knew it was time to wrestle again.

“I didn’t want to get back into it unless I had that feeling again.”

Now, Charlie is back in the ring on her own terms. Her WWE exit may have caught her off guard, but she is already moving forward with a new name, new look, and a long list of opponents she wants to face.

What do you think Charlie should do next after her WWE exit? Drop your thoughts in the comments and let us know.
