Dakota Kai is calling out fans who claimed she had retired after her WWE release, and she’s making it clear that was never the case.

After her WWE release in May 2025, talk quickly picked up online that Kai had quietly stepped away from wrestling altogether. With months passing and no matches, many were convinced she was done before she ever made a return.

Now, after stepping back into the ring on March 8, 2026 at Wrestle Queendom 8, Kai addressed those claims head-on during her April 28, 2026 interview with Chris Van Vliet, and she didn’t hold back. As she reflected on the time between her release and her return, Kai admitted the longer she stayed away, the louder the speculation got.

“The longer I was out of wrestling, the more anxious I got. But having my first match back…the pressure building. And everyone thinks I’ve retired. And that’s the thing—people are so adamant on social media, which is why I don’t go there a lot, because I’m like, ‘Oh, you guys make things up.’ They’re like, ‘She’s definitely retired,’ blah blah blah.”

The former WWE Superstar then shut it down directly, making it clear the break was never meant to be permanent.

“I’m not retired—yet. But with a year off, I can understand why people would think that way. But I wouldn’t leave people hanging—I’m going to give them a reason or something.”

Fans thought she was done after WWE, but Dakota Kai just flipped that narrative herself and made it clear this comeback isn’t a one-off. She didn’t retire, she took time off, and now she’s back, and already calling out the rumors that tried to write her ending before she got to tell it.

Do you think Dakota Kai can reach a bigger level outside WWE now that she’s back, or should she eventually return for another run? Let us know your thoughts and feedback.
