The closing segment of Saturday Night’s Main Event wasn’t just another creative decision—it was reportedly an idea that came directly from Triple H.
Speaking during a recent Self Made Session, Self Made Pro revealed that WWE’s Chief Content Officer personally pitched the angle involving Roman Reigns, Jalen Brunson, Seth Rollins and Tyrese Haliburton. According to the report, the pitch was met with some uncertainty backstage when Triple H first brought it up. Despite that initial reaction, the idea ultimately made it onto television and closed out the show.
“Triple H had an idea for the show. His idea was, quote, ‘What if Haliburton went out with Seth and they just like tried to fight Roman and Jalen?’ And at the time when Hunter pitched this, people were like, ‘I hear you.’ And it ended up happening.”
The segment saw Roman Reigns enter the ring alongside New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson, where Reigns presented him with a custom championship belt while praising the city and its long-awaited NBA title. The celebration didn’t last long, however, as Seth Rollins interrupted before Tyrese Haliburton joined him for a surprise attack.
Brunson briefly stood between Rollins and Reigns before declaring, “This is my house,” allowing Reigns to recover and drop Rollins with a Superman Punch and Spear. The show ended with Reigns and Brunson standing tall while Rollins and Haliburton retreated up the ramp.
The segment led to plenty of discussion among fans after it aired, and now we know that the crossover moment wasn’t something that evolved during the day of the show. Instead, it started with a pitch from Triple H himself that eventually became the final image of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
