Cody Rhodes didn’t hold back when discussing Randy Orton’s recent behavior, and his comments made it clear that their WrestleMania 42 showdown has turned deeply personal.

During a conversation with Joe Tessitore, Rhodes spoke about the emotional fallout from Orton’s attacks and admitted that there’s no way to reconcile their past friendship with what has happened in recent weeks. He described physically feeling the damage from Orton’s assault and explained that those moments changed how he now sees his longtime rival. After detailing what he went through, Rhodes delivered one of his strongest statements yet about Orton’s current mindset.

“If you're a Randy Orton fan and you want him to get 15, I don't think you wanted him to get 15 standing next to Pat McAfee and being something that he's never been before. And this is a tricky word in our world, but I'll tell you, it's fake. The Randy Orton that you're seeing now is fake. And the Randy Orton that you're seeing now will do anything as we've seen to get to 15. So again, you can't reconcile that and really doesn't help me or behoove me to look at all the good stuff. I know what I felt, I felt the steps against my head. I felt the chair against my head. You only really need one to know what you're walking into at WrestleMania 42 and how you need to be walking into it.”

Rhodes’ words make it clear that this isn’t just another title defense — it’s about proving that the version of Orton fans are seeing now isn’t the same man he once trusted. With WrestleMania 42 approaching, the tension between them is reaching a point where neither side appears willing to back down.

Rhodes has already made it known that he’s preparing for the most dangerous version of Orton possible, but calling him “fake” adds a new level of heat to the rivalry that could fuel the main event atmosphere in Las Vegas.
