CM Punk apparently isn’t interested in choosing between the John Cena Classic and WWE’s Marvel-themed Worlds Collide event. The Second City Saint has already volunteered himself for double duty, and he wants to work both shows on back-to-back nights.
After WWE announced its December takeover of the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Florida, Punk jumped into the comments and made his plans pretty damn clear.
“I’m gonna work both shows 🔥”
That would put Punk in action on December 14 for the John Cena Classic before potentially turning around and competing again on December 15 at Worlds Collide. The John Cena Classic will take place first as a special edition of Monday Night RAW, featuring talent from RAW, SmackDown and NXT. WWE is then going in a completely different direction the following night by bringing Worlds Collide back with an Avengers: Doomsday theme.
WWE and The Walt Disney Company announced on November 3 that the December 15 show will feature wrestlers from WWE, NXT and AAA. The crossover is being tied directly to Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday ahead of the movie’s December 18 theatrical release.
“Ahead of the highly anticipated U.S. theatrical release of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ on December 18, WWE will produce an ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ edition of Worlds Collide, featuring the biggest Superstars from WWE, NXT and AAA, on Tuesday, December 15.”
If Punk gets his way, he could find himself working with two completely different groups of talent within 24 hours. The Cena Classic gives him the RAW, SmackDown and NXT pool to play with, while Worlds Collide adds AAA into the equation and opens the door to some considerably different possibilities.
