Chelsea Green and Matt Cardona were getting close to the point where kids were becoming a real part of the conversation — and then WWE called. Green says her return to the company forced the couple to pump the brakes on starting a family because her wrestling career suddenly exploded back into high gear.

Green opened up about the situation while speaking to Katie Nolan alongside Cardona, with the complete interview available on YouTube. The subject came up when Nolan asked the married couple what they were most excited about as they looked toward the future together. Cardona mentioned the possibility of having children someday, and Green immediately revealed that it wasn’t some distant hypothetical. The couple had actually been looking toward that next chapter before WWE came knocking again.

“That was it. I can’t wait for kids. So, it was going to be before I got called back to WWE and then we kind of had to put a pause for the old dream and all, you know.”

That WWE call changed everything. Green suddenly had another full-time wrestling opportunity in front of her, and having a baby would obviously mean stepping away from one of the most physically demanding jobs possible. Green didn’t sugarcoat that reality either. She admitted pregnancy would basically put an immediate stop to what she’s currently doing in WWE.

“It’s hard because with what we do for a living, like, I can imagine that’s a hard stop. It’s a hard stop. And I feel like I haven’t broken into Hollywood yet to be able to act in the meantime.”

That’s why Green isn’t just focused on what happens inside the ring. She’s also trying to build an acting résumé that could give her another lane when the time finally comes to step away from wrestling and start a family. Ringside News previously covered Green opening up about auditioning for Baywatch while still juggling WWE’s brutal schedule, and she made it clear that Hollywood isn’t simply a side hobby. It’s part of the bigger plan.

“So that’s what I’m trying to do now. I’m trying to build a resume that allows me to stop, have kids, and then go back to what I want to do, whether that’s wrestling or go back into acting. Like, I don’t know.”

Green also made it clear that Cardona isn’t standing over her with a stopwatch waiting for a decision. She credited her husband with giving her the time and space to figure out exactly what she wants to do.

“I don’t know. But I’m out. That’s the thing. I’m glad that Matt’s giving me time to figure it out.”

The decision comes while Green is enjoying one of the biggest stretches of her wrestling career, making the timing even more complicated. She wants kids, she wants to keep wrestling and she wants to break further into acting — but there are only so many directions one person can run at once.

For now, the baby plans aren’t dead — they’re parked. WWE came calling at the exact moment Green and Cardona were preparing to look toward the next chapter of their marriage, and Green clearly isn’t ready to walk away from the opportunity sitting in front of her just yet.
