Charlotte Flair may have one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time available whenever she needs advice, but she has stopped asking him for it.

While speaking with WFAN at Fanatics Fest, Charlotte opened up about how becoming a WWE Superstar helped her better understand her father, Ric Flair, and the grip professional wrestling has had on his entire life.

Charlotte explained that stepping into the business gave them something deeper to connect over. Ric could not fully guide her through the early stages because some parts of wrestling can only be understood by living through them.

“I definitely understand my dad more now and why wrestling was his first love and how much it became a part of him. I mean, he is the Nature Boy day in and day out.”

Charlotte said wrestling ultimately strengthened their relationship, especially once Ric became part of her WWE presentation as her manager.

“It also allowed me to have a closer bond with him because when I first started, I don’t think he knew how to connect with me. It’s just something you have to go through, live through and work through. Then, about three years in, when he became my manager, it was game on.”

There is still one problem: Ric Flair is absolutely useless when Charlotte needs somebody to tell her what she did wrong. According to Charlotte, her father is so proud of her that getting legitimate criticism out of him is nearly impossible.

“I still don’t ask for his advice because I’m like, ‘Dad, you’re so freaking biased. Tell me what I did wrong.’ He’s like, ‘Honey, you can do nothing wrong.’ I’m like, ‘You are not helping me at all.’”

Ric Flair spent decades tearing opponents apart inside the ring and never had trouble telling the world exactly how great he was. When it comes to Charlotte, however, the Nature Boy apparently turns into a proud father who refuses to admit his daughter could ever make a mistake. Charlotte has carved out her own historic WWE career, but Ric will always be standing in her corner—even when she would prefer a tougher review of her performance.

What do you think about Charlotte Flair refusing to ask Ric Flair for honest criticism? Do you think having a parent that supportive would help or hurt? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
