Will Ospreay wasn’t shy about blasting TNA, but now Carlos Silva has responded, and he’s not holding back.
After weeks of backlash and criticism from Will Ospreay, Carlos Silva addressed the situation directly, making it clear TNA stands by its decision to pull talent from certain matches involving AEW talent.
Speaking to Josh Martinez, Carlos Silva framed the entire situation as a business move, not a personal one, and made it very clear that protecting the company comes first, no matter who disagrees.
“Yeah, again, I don’t know that I need to really respond. I mean, look—business is business. Every pro wrestling company is going to protect itself, and we’re going to continue to do that.”
Carlos Silva acknowledged the backlash head-on, admitting he’s aware of the criticism, but made it clear it doesn’t change the reasoning behind the move.
“What I would say to the fans is, look—I got a lot of heat. It’s okay. The fans can bring me heat, but there was only one reason that I did it, and that was to protect TNA and to have our house protected.”
Silva then pointed to competition and scheduling conflicts as key factors, suggesting that outside pressures played a role in how things unfolded. He also referenced behind-the-scenes complications, including issues with venues and communication between companies.
“If people are going to come at us, we’re going to do things to protect TNA. So if someone’s going to come onto Thursday night against us, we’re going to take that seriously. If someone’s going to block us from going into a venue because they’re not allowed to talk to us because another organization is there, we’re going to take that seriously. That’s the kind of stuff that happens.”
And despite the strong words coming his way, Carlos Silva made it clear he’s not losing sleep over it since he’s doing what’s best for TNA Wrestling.
“So when I hear all the chatter, I smile—and it’s okay. Will Ospreay and everyone can come at me, but we’re going to do what’s best for TNA. We’re going to do what’s best for our champions and what’s best for the fans. We’re going to keep doing that.”
That response comes after Ospreay publicly tore into TNA’s handling of the situation, especially after matches involving AEW talent were pulled despite earlier approval. He pointed to his own experience working cross-promotional matches and questioned why TNA handled things differently.
“Well, so it nearly happened to me once upon a time… we had to get a lot of things ironed out and sorted… But the fact that WWE and New Japan let that match happen… and TNA, out of all people—who the [expletive] do you think you guys are?”
Ospreay didn’t stop there, calling out what he believes the move says about how TNA views its roster. Even while criticizing the decision, he admitted his respect for TNA’s past—but made it clear he felt the current situation missed the mark.
“I’m sorry. It’s like all the [expletive] talk… you want to give permission for these guys to do that match and then pull them? I think that’s coward [expletive], boss… I think that says everything about what you view your talent as. Those beginning years… will always be my favorite era in wrestling… but come on, man. I just think hang your head in shame, honestly.”
At the end of the day, Carlos Silva isn’t apologizing. While Ospreay called out the decision, Silva is framing it as a necessary business move, and it looks like TNA isn’t changing course anytime soon.
