Brie Bella won’t be walking into Saturday Night’s Main Event with just her championship experience to rely on.
As Brie and Paige prepare to defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid of Fatal Influence, Bryan Danielson has opened up about the work that’s been happening behind the scenes—and according to Brie, he’s pushed her harder than anyone ever has.
Speaking on Brie’s latest vlog, the reigning Women’s Tag Team Champion admitted having Danielson in her corner has completely changed the way she’s prepared for this championship run.
“I know you feel like this comeback’s different. But, I mean, it’s because of you, Brian.”
Danielson wasn’t about to take all the credit, though. He insisted the biggest reason Brie has looked so good since returning to WWE is because of the effort she’s been putting in every single day.
“Well, and also you’ve been putting in a lot of work. So, yeah. And so, I mean, it’s a little bit of coaching and it’s a lot of hard work. And so, that’s everything.”
That “little bit of coaching” hasn’t exactly been gentle.Brie laughed as she admitted training with one of the greatest wrestlers of his generation has pushed her to the limit more than once.
“Brian is not easy, let me tell you. I think there’s been a couple times where I’ve had teary eyes.”
She explained that getting back into wrestling shape isn’t simply about taking bumps again. It’s retraining your body, rebuilding your conditioning and forcing your mind to adjust to everything that comes with stepping back into the ring.
“Just because it’s hard work and, you know, when your body hasn’t done it in a while and you’ve taken those back bumps and you’re relearning different things, your brain’s hurting… the conditioning. There is a lot that goes into it. It can be really tough.”
Danielson smiled because, in his mind, that’s exactly what wrestling has always been. Referencing a book recommended to him by Jon Moxley, he said the title perfectly describes life inside the business.
“Wrestling is… there’s a great book that Mox recommended to me called Chosen Suffering. It’s by an amateur wrestling coach, but that’s what pro wrestling is too. It’s chosen suffering.”
Brie didn’t argue with that description for a second as she made it clear just how fun it can be.
“I love it. There’s so many times where after the ring, like you can just feel your back and neck cramping up, and then the next day you’re like, ‘Wait, what am I doing?’ But then it’s so much fun.”
For Danielson, this isn’t just about helping Brie get through one title defense. He praised the way she’s continued embracing new challenges, saying the willingness to keep learning is one of the biggest reasons she’s thriving in this stage of her career.
“It’s great to have those kind of goals and the work that she’s putting in and learning new things. That’s so great for your brain as you age… whether it’s wrestling or whether it’s gardening or whether it’s something else that you’re learning something new.”
Brie ended the conversation by giving Danielson perhaps the biggest compliment of all, saying none of this would have been possible without having someone who believes in her as much as he does.
“I am so blessed that I have a husband who believes in me too because because of that, I have thrived more than I ever thought I could. So when it comes to relationships, make sure to find a partner who lets you go after your dreams. And as you’re going after them, they help you get there because there’s no better relationship to have than that and no better partner.”
Brie has already proven she can still compete at the highest level by returning to WWE and capturing the Women’s Tag Team Championships alongside Paige. Now comes the next challenge: keeping those titles. Based on everything she and Danielson shared, they’ve treated this defense against Fatal Influence like a training camp—not just another match—and they’ll find out at Saturday Night’s Main Event if all that work pays off.
