Brock Lesnar may have left his boots in the ring at WrestleMania 42, but that moment might not be the final chapter in his career just yet.

Lesnar created a visual at WrestleMania when he removed his boots and gloves following his loss, leaving many fans convinced they had just witnessed the end of his in-ring run. Behind the scenes, there is growing belief that the moment was genuine — but not necessarily permanent.

According to sources within WWE, there is strong internal belief that Lesnar was sincerely signaling the end of his career when he exited the ring that night. However, there is also significant talk that the company hopes to get one more major match out of him before everything is officially over.

The internal thinking around Lesnar’s future was explained clearly during WrestleVotes Radio, where sources detailed the situation and what WWE hopes happens next.

"There is a strong belief within WWE that Brock Lesnar was genuinely saying goodbye when he left his boots and gloves in the ring this past Sunday at WrestleMania. With those we spoke to believing Lesnar is ready to call it a career. However, many also feel that before it's all said and done, he will have one final match at this year's SummerSlam. Lesnar, who attended the University of Minnesota and has been billed from Minneapolis, Minnesota throughout his entire WWE career, has only wrestled two televised matches in the state, with the last taking place in January of 2004. One contact told us the company is more than hopeful he will be on the card come August 1st and 2nd at U.S. Bank Stadium downtown Minneapolis."

That potential final match location is not random. SummerSlam is scheduled for Minneapolis this year, a city that has deep ties to Lesnar’s background. With his college history tied to the University of Minnesota and his long-standing association with the state, the idea of closing his career there would make sense from both a business and storytelling standpoint.

There is also growing speculation that WWE could build toward one final major showdown tied into current storylines. Gunther’s ongoing association with Paul Heyman — and the teased favor that still hangs in the air — has already fueled talk that Lesnar could be pulled back in for one last fight.

Even if Lesnar is ready to step away, WWE clearly wants to make sure his final moment happens on the biggest stage possible outside of WrestleMania. A farewell match at SummerSlam in Minneapolis would give fans one more opportunity to see one of the most dominant performers of the modern era before he officially walks away.

For now, Lesnar’s boots may be sitting in the ring as a symbol of closure — but the door to one last appearance is still wide open. If WWE gets its way, that final goodbye may not happen until SummerSlam.

Do you think Brock Lesnar should return for one last match at SummerSlam, or should WrestleMania 42 remain his true farewell? Let us know your thoughts in the comments and join the conversation.
