Brie Bella is eight weeks removed from the injury that knocked her out at SummerSlam, and she’s not sugarcoating what the layoff has done to her life. The WWE Hall of Famer says the forced downtime has made her slow way down, rethink a lot of things and spend a whole lot more time focused on her health and kids.
Speaking on The Nikki & Brie Show, Nikki Garcia asked where things currently stand with Brie’s recovery. Brie revealed that October 1 officially marked eight weeks since she got hurt on August 1, and even she can’t believe how fast the time has gone.
“Well, October 1st. It’s going to be eight weeks. I got injured August 1st.”
Brie said the last two months have gone by so fast that she’s already looking back wondering where the time went. Being forced to sit still has clearly messed with her sense of time, but it’s also given her way more room to think than she normally gets.
“Well, one that life goes fast. I know. Cuz I can’t believe it’s been 8 weeks already. I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ Like, what have I done in the last eight weeks?”
Nikki knows that feeling better than most. She reminded Brie that during one of her own injury recoveries, she already knew she was coming back around the three-month mark, which made every week feel like part of a countdown.
“That’s how I felt cuz I knew I was coming back at the 3 month mark. So, just think at your thing, I had four weeks to SummerSlam.”
Brie isn’t treating this like some simple waiting game, though. She said getting hurt and being forced to slow down made her start questioning what feels right in her life, what doesn’t and what she actually wants moving forward.
“I feel like anything in life, and we all experience this during the pandemic, but when you’re kind of forced to stand still and not do really a lot, like slow down, you do think about life. You think about where you’re at. What are things that are feeling aligned? What’s not feeling aligned? Like what makes me happy, what doesn’t, what feels hard, what, you know, you go through all of it.”
Brie said that has basically been her mindset for the last two months. She’s had more time to look at her health, her family life and what this injury actually means instead of just thinking about when she can get back in the ring.
“I’ve definitely been doing that the last two months.”
And if anyone thought her multiple scapula fractures from SummerSlam were some sign that her bones are falling apart, Brie had a very clear response. She said she saw people blaming her vegan diet and suggesting her bones were brittle, and she wasn’t having any of it.
“Now looking at like my bone density, which I have great bone density for everyone who’s wondering. I would see people were like, ‘She’s vegan, her bones are brittle.’ No, no, and no. I have very strong bones.”
That wasn’t the only thing Brie has been thinking about. She also admitted that being home more has given her a lot more time with her kids, and she sounds like she’s genuinely enjoying that side of the layoff even if the injury itself has been a nightmare.
“Just like, you know, looking at where I’m at my life and with my kids and like I’m not going to lie, obviously it’s been incredible to be home a lot more with them.”
Brie added that she’s still doing some light travel, but her daily life has shifted hard toward being home and handling more of the parenting load. For somebody who has spent years on the road, that has turned into one of the few real positives to come out of the injury.
“I’m still doing little tiny travels, but being the main parent, like doing all the stuff, it’s, you know, I love it.”
The update comes after Nikki previously made it clear that WWE has not locked in any return plans for Brie yet. Nikki said there haven’t even been discussions about the comeback, though everyone is hoping the Royal Rumble could end up being the target if Brie’s recovery keeps moving in the right direction.
Brie has already made one major recovery breakthrough, regaining enough movement to lift and bend her arm around 90 degrees after barely being able to move it at first. She’s still working through a multi-month recovery, so there’s no guarantee she’ll be ready for anything until her body says so.
Right now, Brie’s comeback story is still on hold, but she’s clearly not wasting the downtime. She’s eight weeks into recovery, shutting down the “brittle bones” chatter, spending more time with her kids and using the injury to take a hard look at what she wants next.
Do you think Brie Bella will be ready in time for the Royal Rumble, or should she take even more time before trying to get back in a WWE ring? Let us know your thoughts and feedback in the comments.
