Brie Bella’s recovery from her broken scapula just took a pretty big step forward. After weeks of struggling to move her injured arm, Brie can finally raise it again and has regained enough movement to bend it to roughly 90 degrees.

Brie took to her Instagram Stories and showed off the progress she’s made since starting physical therapy. For the first time since getting hurt at SummerSlam, she’s beginning to get some real movement back in the arm. Naturally, Brie found a pretty relatable way to celebrate the milestone.

“Finally able to get my arm up. I think it’s time to shave my armpits.”

Jokes aside, this was a big deal for her. Brie also showed that she could now bend the injured arm to around 90 degrees, something she hadn’t been able to do during the earlier stages of her recovery. She called this her biggest week of progress since the injury happened.

“Big week for me! The most movement I’ve felt since the injury. Still have a long way to go but feels good to move my arm.”

That’s a noticeable improvement from where Brie was just a couple of weeks ago. During the August 20 edition of The Nikki & Brie Show, Brie revealed that simply taking her arm out of the sling and trying to move it around during physical therapy was difficult.

“Just like one, getting the arm out of the sling and just trying to move it around. I was like, holy—oh, sucks.”

Keeping the shoulder moving has been an important part of her recovery because doctors don’t want it becoming too stiff while the fracture heals. Brie has been doing her prescribed exercises while undergoing regular imaging to make sure everything is healing properly.

The injury happened at SummerSlam, where Brie suffered multiple breaks in her scapula. She initially feared she would need emergency surgery, but a CT scan eventually showed that doctors could allow the injury to heal naturally.

Brie was given an estimated recovery period of three to six months, so she’s certainly not at the finish line yet. Another CT scan is expected to determine whether the bones are fusing together properly as the healing process continues.

For now, though, Brie finally has something tangible to celebrate. Going from struggling just to get her arm out of a sling to raising it and reaching 90 degrees is a pretty big difference—and she knows there’s still plenty more work ahead.
