Bobby Roode just got the same strange WWE.com treatment as Titus O’Neil, and this one is even more interesting because Roode is still actively working for the company. WWE has quietly moved the former NXT Champion into the alumni section of its official roster page, despite Roode continuing to serve as a producer behind the scenes.
The move comes after Titus O’Neil was also shifted into the alumni section following years away from the ring. In Roode’s case, however, there has been no indication that his actual employment status has changed.
Roode hasn’t wrestled since 2022 after neck issues forced him out of action and eventually led to multiple surgeries. Instead of returning to television, he transitioned into a producer role and has remained a regular part of WWE’s backstage operation.
That makes the alumni move look more like WWE cleaning up how it classifies inactive wrestlers than some sudden departure.
WWE has used the alumni section for people who are no longer active performers even when they remain employed by the company in other jobs, so Roode’s profile being moved does not necessarily mean he is gone.
Roode also isn’t sitting around waiting for the phone to ring for one more match. During a 2024 appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Roode revealed that doctors had medically cleared him to wrestle again, but he sounded completely at peace with where his career had landed.
“It is what it is. Like I said, when the wheels fall off, the wheels fall off.”
Roode never followed that clearance with any real push toward an in-ring comeback. Instead, he continued working as a WWE producer, where several wrestlers have publicly praised his work and the role he has played behind the scenes.
The 50-year-old’s last stretch as an active wrestler was derailed by neck problems that required serious medical attention, and by the time he was cleared again, his life inside WWE had already moved in another direction.
So while seeing “Bobby Roode” suddenly sitting in WWE’s alumni section might look like a major red flag at first glance, there is currently nothing indicating he has actually left the company.
For now, this looks like WWE drawing a harder line between active wrestlers and people working backstage. Roode may no longer be listed with the current roster, but unless something changes behind the scenes, he’s still showing up to work — just without the robe, entrance music and “Glorious” spotlight.
