Titus O’Neil’s WWE status just took a very noticeable turn, and the company isn’t explaining a damn thing about it. After years of staying attached to WWE as a Global Ambassador despite no longer wrestling, O’Neil has now been quietly moved into the alumni section of WWE.com, which instantly raises one obvious question — is his time with the company finally over?
O’Neil hasn’t competed in a WWE ring since 2020, when he challenged Bobby Lashley for the United States Championship on RAW. That match lasted just over a minute, and it ended up being the last time fans saw him wrestle for the company.
That didn’t mean Titus disappeared. Instead, WWE kept him around in a completely different role. O’Neil became one of the company’s most visible Global Ambassadors, showing up at charity events, community appearances and major WWE functions while representing the brand far away from the ring. He even resurfaced during WrestleMania 39, where WWE brought him onto commentary for a match on both nights of the show.
So this isn’t some random roster-page cleanup involving a wrestler who vanished years ago. O’Neil was still publicly tied to WWE long after his in-ring career was basically finished, which makes his sudden move into the alumni section a lot harder to ignore.
As of now, WWE lists O’Neil with its former talent instead of its current roster. The company has not announced that he was released, said his contract expired or confirmed that his Global Ambassador role has ended. That leaves his actual status sitting in a pretty weird spot.
O’Neil has been part of WWE for well over a decade, first coming through the original version of NXT before teaming with Darren Young as the Prime Time Players. The duo eventually captured the WWE Tag Team Championship before O’Neil moved into singles competition. His role changed dramatically as the years went on. Wrestling became less important, while his charity work and public appearances became a much bigger part of what WWE used him for.
That’s why this move matters. WWE doesn’t usually shove someone into the alumni section for no reason, and O’Neil wasn’t just some forgotten name collecting dust on the roster page. He remained part of the company’s public-facing image for years after his final match. Maybe Titus is still working with WWE in some capacity. Maybe his ambassador deal ended quietly. Maybe the company simply hasn’t gotten around to saying anything yet.
Whatever the case, something clearly changed. For now, Titus O’Neil has gone from longtime WWE ambassador to officially being listed alongside the company’s former stars, and WWE has offered zero explanation for why. Until Titus or the company speaks up, fans are left looking at the alumni move and wondering if one of WWE’s longest-standing relationships has quietly reached the finish line.
