Blake Monroe has been attacking people, hijacking backstage segments and making her presence felt on SmackDown—but she still has not wrestled a single match since leaving NXT.
Now she is messing with fans over it. Monroe responded to a fan on Twitter who told her they wanted to see her wrestle. Instead of giving them a straight answer, she turned it around and questioned whether they had earned the privilege.
“Do you deserve to see me wrestling?”
The response fits Monroe’s current SmackDown character perfectly. WWE has kept her involved in storyline angles since her call-up, but the company has yet to put her in an official match on the blue brand. Her latest appearance came in a backstage segment WWE released online after the July 10 episode of SmackDown. The footage did not air on the live USA Network broadcast.
Cathy Kelley was interviewing Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton when Chelsea Green interrupted and tried to steer the conversation toward herself. Nia Jax and Lash Legend eventually joined the argument before Stratton walked away and left Chelsea alone. That was when Monroe rushed into the scene and attacked Green. Monroe made sure Chelsea knew exactly who had blindsided her.
“Hey, Chelsea. My name is Blake Monroe. You’d do well to remember that.”
Chelsea became the latest woman Monroe has targeted since joining the SmackDown roster. Monroe has also gone after Giulia and Kiana James, but WWE continues to hold back her first official match.
The timing has only made fans more impatient. SmackDown recently returned to a two-hour format, leaving less television time to spread across the roster. Monroe’s attack on Chelsea did not make the broadcast at all and was instead released through WWE’s social channels after the show. That has not stopped WWE from presenting Monroe as a dangerous new threat, but there is only so long she can keep attacking people backstage before fans expect to see her step inside the ring.
Monroe clearly knows people are waiting, and she appears more interested in making them beg than revealing when her debut match will finally happen.
Do you think WWE is building anticipation for Blake Monroe’s first SmackDown match, or has the company waited too long already? Leave your feedback in the comments.
