Blake Monroe made another statement on WWE SmackDown, but television viewers never saw it happen.
WWE released a backstage segment on YouTube after the July 10 episode, showing Monroe attacking Chelsea Green in footage that did not make the live USA Network broadcast.
The segment began with Cathy Kelley interviewing Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton. Chelsea interrupted and tried to turn the conversation toward herself, suggesting that she and Stratton could eventually become Women’s Tag Team Champions. Nia Jax and Lash Legend then entered the picture and made it clear they had their own interest in the tag team titles. Stratton eventually walked away, leaving Chelsea by herself.
That is when Monroe struck. She rushed into the scene, attacked Green and made sure Chelsea knew exactly who had dropped her.
“Hey, Chelsea. My name is Blake Monroe. You’d do well to remember that.”
The attack continued Monroe’s aggressive arrival on SmackDown. She has already gone after Giulia and Kiana James in previous appearances, and Chelsea is now the latest name added to that list. What makes this one more interesting is that none of it aired on television.
The July 10 episode marked SmackDown’s shit to the two-hour edition after moving back from the three-hour format. WWE may still be adjusting to the tighter runtime, and the show itself ended abruptly while Cody Rhodes was heading toward the ring after GUNTHER’s attack on Nick Aldis.
It is possible WWE ran short on time and cut the backstage segment, though it also may have been taped specifically for social media. Either way, Monroe’s attack was still treated like a storyline development and pushed out through WWE’s official channels after the show. Blake Monroe did not need live television to make Chelsea Green her next target. Now the bigger question is whether WWE follows up on the attack next week or leaves it as another social-media-only angle.
