BJ Ray grabbed attention again at WrestleCon — this time going full promo mode and taking a shot at the wrestling business itself.
While speaking to Javi live at WrestleCon, Ray was asked a simple question about his favorite Latin wrestler of all time. He started off showing respect to a legend before quickly flipping the moment into a bold statement about himself and the current state of wrestling.
Ray first paid tribute to the late Eddie Guerrero, calling him the greatest Latino heel ever and praising his legacy in the business. After giving Guerrero his flowers, Ray shifted gears and made it clear he believes he represents the next generation of heels, while also reminding fans of his own heritage.
“Come on, baby, you already know. I gotta go with the greatest Latino heel of all time, you know what I'm saying? Eddie Guerrero. Shout out Eddie the boy, the man himself, the man of the people, the man of the culture, the man of the hour. Too sweet to be sour, you know Eddie, he's generational, you know, Gotta put all respect on his name.”
Ray then pivoted from praise into self-promotion, declaring that a new heel has arrived and that he plans to make noise across the industry.
“But guess what? There's a new bad boy in the business, baby. There's a new mixed bad boy in the business. You know I got that Latino fire too. I'm half Mexican for those of you who don't know… But hey, that don't matter, baby. I still got that running through my DNA. And I'm coming for everybody, baby.”
That’s when Ray delivered the line that’s likely to get the most attention, blasting the industry and claiming that modern wrestling has become too sensitive.
“I'm the best heel in the entire world. Everybody big mad out here, I'm doing my thing. I just think people are soft, people are insecure. I think the pro wrestling business is the softest business of all time.”
He didn’t stop there, continuing to double down on his stance and daring anyone who disagrees with him to confront him directly.
“People actually getting their p*ssies in a whistle about what I'm doing. Hey, if they got a problem with it, they can pull up on me, they can say what's up? But they don't want to because they know exactly what happened.”
Ray has built a reputation for leaning into controversy, and comments like these show he’s fully committed to keeping that persona alive whether he’s inside the ring or working a microphone in front of fans.
With Ray continuing to take shots at the wrestling industry and calling it “the softest business of all time,” it’s clear he isn’t worried about making enemies along the way.
