Ben Bishop had a travel nightmare before BRCW Summer Smash—and he made sure JetBlue heard about it afterward.
The wrestler jumped on Twitter the next day and ripped the airline after saying his luggage disappeared before the August 16 show in Boca Raton, Florida. Bishop didn’t just lose a suitcase either. His boots, wrestling gear and everything he planned to wear for the show were inside.
“The jobbers at @JetBlue lost my luggage. Boots, gear, everything…”
Bishop still wasn’t about to miss the show. With his actual gear nowhere to be found, he hit Target, grabbed whatever he could make work and ended up wrestling in Bart Simpson shorts and Nike Air Maxes. He then took one more shot while making it clear he wasn’t letting JetBlue’s screw-up keep him out of the ring.
“Instead of sitting this one out, I went to Target and wrestled in Bart Simpson shorts and Nike Air Maxes.”
“Lesser men would have compounded the problem. BTBB finds solutions.”
Bishop teamed with Kerry Morton at Boca Raton Championship Wrestling’s Summer Smash, where they challenged BRCW Tag Team Champions Cezar Bononi and Noah Kekoa. Bishop and Morton didn’t get the titles, but Bishop still made it through the match despite showing up without any of the gear he actually packed.
The show also featured Matt Riddle winning the vacant BRCW Heavyweight Championship and Lacey Lane defeating Shayna Baszler for the BRCW Women’s Championship, but Bishop’s post-show travel rant gave fans another story coming out of the event.
Bishop clearly wasn’t interested in giving JetBlue a polite customer service complaint. He called them “jobbers,” bought replacement clothes at Target and wrestled anyway.
