Bayley may be off WWE television, but she definitely wasn’t staying away from wrestling this weekend. With her WWE future still up in the air, the former Women’s Champion was spotted backstage at TNA Lockdown in Chicago.
Jada Stone took to her Instagram Story and revealed that Bayley was backstage during the pay-per-view. Stone shared a photo of herself hugging Bayley and made it clear just how much the WWE star means to her.
“My reason. Thank you, @itsmebayley”
There’s no indication that Bayley was at Lockdown in any official capacity. She didn’t appear on the show, and the photo simply showed her spending time backstage with Stone. Even then, Bayley showing up backstage at another promotion is going to get attention considering everything surrounding her WWE future right now.
She hasn’t appeared on WWE television since losing to Lyra Valkyria at Saturday Night’s Main Event, with Valkyria later claiming she had “run Bayley out of here.” Questions have continued over Bayley’s contract status ever since.
Interestingly enough, Bayley was dropping WWE-related hints just before her Lockdown appearance. After celebrating 10 years since her RAW debut on Instagram, RAW General Manager Adam Pearce showed Bayley some love in the comments. Bayley responded with a message that immediately got people talking: “Hey let’s talk.” Pearce played along: “You know where to find me.”
WWE has also continued mentioning Bayley on television despite her absence, as she was mentioned on RAW last week. Dave Meltzer recently suggested those references were an indication that the company expects her to return.
So, the timing certainly makes it interesting. One day Bayley is publicly telling WWE’s RAW General Manager that they need to talk, and the next she’s popping up backstage at TNA Lockdown while everyone is still waiting to find out what she does next. Where Bayley ultimately ends up remains uncertain, but she certainly isn’t making the speculation surrounding her future any quieter.
