Sammy Guevara’s decision to remove AEW from his social media bio got fans talking—but apparently it didn’t have the same effect backstage.

The former TNT Champion removed every mention of AEW from his Twitter bio before posting a simple message that read, “New bio.” It didn’t take long for speculation to explode online, with fans wondering if the change was a sign that something bigger was happening behind the scenes.

So instead of guessing, Self Made Pro decided to ask. Speaking during a recent episode of Self Made Session, he revealed that as soon as he saw the reaction online, he started texting people inside AEW to find out whether there was actually a story there.

“If you don’t know, Sammy Guevara tweeted ‘new bio.’ Literally all he is, new bio. And people noticed that his new bio was removing any mention of AEW from his bio.”

He said he reached out to multiple contacts in the company looking for some kind of explanation. The answers caught him completely off guard. Instead of hinting at a contract issue or some kind of backstage development, both people gave him almost the exact same response.

“I texted people before the show when I found out about this this afternoon… I texted a couple people in the company. I said, ‘What do you know about this?’ They said essentially both of them said, ‘I don’t know and I don’t care.’ I said, ‘Damn.'”

That’s about as far as the story went. No secret plans. No backstage drama. No indication that AEW officials viewed the bio change as some major development. At least based on the people Self Made Pro spoke to, it simply wasn’t something anyone seemed concerned about.

Of course, that hasn’t stopped fans from wondering. Guevara has barely been featured on AEW television over the past year, spending much of his time in Ring of Honor instead. He also recently admitted that his television appearances are entirely up to Tony Khan, saying he’s ready whenever the call comes.

Whether the bio change turns out to mean something or absolutely nothing, one thing is clear: the speculation surrounding it has been far louder than the reaction inside AEW itself.

Do you think Sammy Guevara’s bio change is a sign of something bigger, or are fans reading too much into it? Let us know in the comments below.
