Cedric Alexander just skipped the line at TNA Bound For Glory — and he had the paperwork to do it. The former X-Division Champion has been dropped straight into the vacant title match on October 11 thanks to his rematch clause, meaning he doesn’t have to survive a qualifier like everybody else trying to get into the fight.
TNA made the move official, confirming Alexander has automatically qualified for the X-Division Championship match at Bound For Glory from the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.
“Via his rematch clause, @CedricAlexander has automatically qualified for the match for the vacant X-Division Title at #TNABoundForGlory on October 11 LIVE on PPV and TNA+ from the Yuengling Center in Tampa!”
That throws Alexander into a match that already includes KC Navarro and Fabian Aichner, with three more wrestlers still needing to punch their tickets before TNA gets to Tampa. And there’s a pretty simple reason everybody is fighting over an empty belt.
Leon Slater gave up the X-Division Championship when he cashed in Option C, trading the title for a shot at Nic Nemeth and the TNA World Championship at Bound For Glory. Ringside News previously covered Slater setting his sights on Nemeth and the World Title at Bound For Glory, leaving TNA with one hell of a vacancy to deal with. TNA then started building a six-man championship match to crown Slater’s replacement. KC Navarro became the first wrestler to qualify for the vacant X-Division Championship match, while Fabian Aichner later joined him in the field.
Alexander didn’t need any of that. His rematch clause put him straight back into the title picture, which means half of the six-man field is now locked in with Alexander, Navarro and Aichner all heading to Bound For Glory. The other three spots are still wide open, so TNA has plenty of room left to make this thing even more ridiculous before bell time.
Bound For Glory goes down October 11 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, with the event airing live on pay-per-view and TNA+. Ringside News will have live coverage of the show, including results, highlights and all the biggest moments out of Tampa.

Cedric Alexander lost the belt, watched it become vacant, and now he’s right back in position to grab it again without having to fight through a qualifier. That’s one hell of a shortcut — but now he actually has to cash it in when it matters.
