Matt Hardy’s return as Broken Matt Hardy didn’t just explode with wrestling fans online — it also caught the attention of AMC in a big way.
While speaking on the “Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, Matt revealed that AMC personally reached out after the segment aired and praised the social media response generated by his Broken return on TNA iMPACT!. As Matt reflected on the reaction behind the scenes, he explained that AMC was especially impressed with how strongly the segment performed online.
“I’m not going to lie, we got—uh, AMC hit back and complimented all the social media posts that we put out because of that.”
Matt then pointed directly to the engagement numbers tied to the return, specifically mentioning how successful the clips became on Instagram.
“You know, I know they were on Instagram—it’s done 1.2 million-something.”
According to Matt, AMC was thrilled with how much attention The Hardy Boyz generated throughout the episode overall.
“Uh, but they were really proud of it. Like, the Hardys dominated that episode, which was cool.”
The comments come after Matt made his surprise return as Broken Matt Hardy during the April 30 episode of TNA iMPACT Wrestling. During the match, Jeff Hardy faced Vincent after Vincent and Dutch recently betrayed The Hardy Boyz. Late in the bout, the lights suddenly went out as Vincent climbed to the top rope.
When the lights came back on, Broken Matt Hardy was standing directly in front of Vincent while hitting his signature “DELETE” taunt, immediately sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Moments later, the lights dropped again. When they returned, Jeff Hardy had appeared on the top rope while Vincent was laid out in the ring. Jeff then hit his finisher and scored the victory.
The appearance marked Matt’s first return as Broken Matt Hardy since The Hardy Boyz reunited in TNA, and judging from the online numbers Matt referenced, the character still carries major value both creatively and digitally.
Bottom line — Broken Matt Hardy’s comeback didn’t just create nostalgia for longtime fans. It delivered massive engagement online, impressed AMC internally, and completely dominated the conversation surrounding that episode of TNA iMPACT.
