Josh Alexander has been stuck on the sidelines for more than four months after knee surgery. Now, he’s back in front of a wrestling crowd and already picking a fight.
Alexander resurfaced on this week’s Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling Mayhem, confronting Stu Grayson and teasing a title unification match between the two.
That’s a pretty encouraging sign considering Alexander hasn’t wrestled since injuring his knee at an AEW taping in March. The Don Callis Family member underwent surgery in early April and has been out of action ever since.
His absence also created a problem over in MLP. Alexander became the inaugural MLP Canadian Champion in May 2025 and never lost the title. With the injury keeping him from defending it, Stu Grayson was eventually crowned interim champion.
Now Alexander wants to settle that. No date has been announced for the unification match yet, and there’s still no official confirmation that Alexander has been medically cleared to wrestle. But his return to MLP television and confrontation with Grayson certainly makes it look like things are moving in that direction.
There’s also an obvious landing spot if everything lines up. MLP will hold its Northern Rising pay-per-view in Toronto on October 3, giving Alexander more than another month to get ready if that’s where the company wants to pull the trigger.
Getting back into MLP would mean a little more to Alexander too. One of his biggest frustrations during the injury was being unable to fulfill his responsibilities as Canadian Champion after Scott D’Amore relaunched the promotion.
Four months after surgery, though, Alexander is finally back in the picture. Stu Grayson has been keeping his championship warm, and if this week’s confrontation was any indication, Alexander is coming back to collect it.
