AEW finally laid out exactly how the Continental Cup will work, revealing the full tournament format during the opening of the August 8 episode of Collision.
The biggest rule is that there will be no outside interference and no time limits throughout the tournament. AEW also confirmed that 16 wrestlers will compete in eight blind draw matches to start the Cup. The eight winners will then move on to four more blind draw matches. From there, the final four wrestlers will advance to the semifinals in Glasgow, Scotland on August 26.
The tournament will then wrap up at Wembley Stadium during AEW All In London on August 30, where the Continental Cup Final will take place. The winner of that final will receive the Continental Cup and become the new AEW Continental Champion.
The rules revealed on Collision are:
- No outside interference
- No time limits
- 16 wrestlers compete in 8 blind draw matches
- The 8 winners advance to 4 blind draw matches
- The final 4 wrestlers advance to the semifinals
- Semifinals take place in Glasgow, Scotland on August 26

- The winner receives the Continental Cup and becomes the new AEW Continental Champion
With the format now officially explained, AEW has made it clear this is a straight knockout tournament with no time-limit escapes and no interference allowed to muddy the results.
