AEW Redemption is no longer just an internal front-runner story because the company has now made it official, and the event is taking place in Canada.

AEW’s official account took to Twitter and announced that the first-ever AEW Redemption pay-per-view will take place in Montreal, Quebec, this summer. The show is scheduled for Sunday, July 26, at the Centre Bell and it’s expected to be a solid event.

“🇨🇦 MONTREAL 🇨🇦
As announced by the Toronto Sun, AEW is returning to Canada this Summer with a BRAND NEW PPV: #AEWRedemption! This inaugural event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 26th at the @centrebell in Montreal, Quebec.”

The announcement confirms earlier talk that Montreal had become the heavy favorite to host the new event. Fightful Select previously noted that the city was the frontrunner within AEW circles, with an official announcement expected soon.

Redemption had already been expected to land between Forbidden Door and All In as AEW continues expanding its pay-per-view calendar. Now, with Montreal locked in, the new show gives AEW another major Canada event and another big stop on the road to All In at Wembley.

AEW has leaned harder into destination-style pay-per-views in recent years, and bringing a brand-new event to Centre Bell gives Redemption a strong launch spot. Montreal has a deep wrestling history, and AEW will now use that market to introduce a fresh pay-per-view brand.

With the date and city confirmed, attention now turns to what AEW books for the first Redemption card. The company has a chance to make the inaugural event feel important right away, especially with the show positioned during one of the busiest stretches of its calendar.
