Rey Mysterio was announced as the new General Manager for AAA. This announcement brought a big pop from the crowd, as he is an absolute legend with those fans.
AAA World Cruiserweight Championship: Laredo Kid (c) vs. Rey Fenix
Savio Vega joined commentary in place of new General Manager Rey Mysterio as the match got underway. Fenix quickly targeted Laredo Kid’s arm, but Laredo answered with an arm drag.
Fenix later locked in a headlock before Laredo escaped and sent him outside. Laredo followed with a suicide dive and tossed Fenix back into the ring. He attempted a top-rope dropkick, but Fenix caught him in midair and hit a sit-out powerbomb for a two count.
Laredo fought back with a neckbreaker and a Michinoku Driver, but Fenix kicked out. Fenix then attempted a springboard move, only for Laredo to catch him on the ropes. Fenix fought free and rolled through into a cutter.
Fenix hit a brainbuster, but Laredo still managed to kick out. Moments later, Laredo countered Fenix in the corner with a Destroyer DDT, but Fenix survived at two.
Laredo connected with a poisonrana, but Fenix answered with a German suplex. The two continued trading strikes before Fenix tried for a Mexican Muscle Buster, only for Laredo to escape.
Fenix then went for a discus elbow, but Laredo suddenly collapsed. As the referee checked on him and turned to speak with the timekeeper, Laredo hit Fenix with a low blow. He followed it with a frog splash and scored the pinfall to retain his title.
Winner: Laredo Kid
It was then announced that Noche De Los Grandes will be a two-week event beginning next week. While the full cards have not been revealed yet, several major matches were confirmed. The event will feature a Six-Woman Tag Team Match, The War Raiders defending the AAA Tag Team Championships against Pagano & Psycho Clown, and the Mask vs. Mask showdown to finally end the Americano Civil War between Real El Grande Americano and OG El Grande Americano.
Back from break, Rey Mysterio confronted Laredo Kid about his actions in the previous match. Mysterio said he was disappointed in the way Laredo won, but Laredo brushed it off and claimed that a win is still a win.
Mysterio then announced that Rey Fenix will get another shot at Laredo Kid at Noche De Los Grandes.
The Creed Brothers vs. Los Americanos
The Creed Brothers made their entrance in their Los Hermanos Americanos personas while JBL and Corey Graves argued over whether they actually were The Creed Brothers. Totally not confusing at all.
The match was held under Superlucha Rules, meaning there were no tags required. Unfortunately, with both teams dressed alike and constantly switching around, the action became chaotic and hard to follow at times.
The Hermanos Americanos started strong by taking out Rayo and Bravo with a double dive to the outside before continuing the attack at ringside. Rayo briefly fought back against Bruto, but Julios slammed him headfirst into the steel steps. The Hermanos then brought chairs into the ring and attempted a con-chair-to, only for Bravo to pull Rayo out of danger.
Rayo and Bravo answered by using the chairs against their opponents. They dropped Bruto face-first onto one of the chairs and trapped Julio’s legs around the ring post. Bravo later pulled out an OG Americano piñata from under the ring and smashed it over Bruto, sending candy everywhere.
The chaos escalated when a table was introduced at ringside. Julio and Bruto regained control, beating down both opponents. They slammed Rayo onto a chair and drove him onto it back-first. Bravo later returned to break up a pin attempt, but he was quickly overwhelmed as well.
Bravo eventually grabbed an American flag and used it as a weapon against Julio. Rayo followed by knocking Bruto off the ring post while Bravo connected with an airplane spin into an Olympic Slam. Both Americanos went up top for dueling diving headbutts, but Bruto somehow kicked out.
The action continued to break down as all four men traded huge moves and near falls. Julio hit a double superplex off the ring post followed by a 450 splash, but Bravo survived the pin attempt.
Bruto later set up a table at ringside and prepared to put Rayo through it, but Bravo stormed back with a kendo stick. He laid Bruto across the table while Rayo climbed the ring post and crashed through Bruto with a massive splash.
As Rayo and Bravo looked ready to finish things, OG Americano suddenly appeared and put Rayo through the announce table. Real Americano then ran down with a chair and attacked the Hermanos.
The two rivals entered the ring and stared each other down, unable to touch because of their upcoming Mask vs. Mask match. OG then removed his sweatshirt to reveal a shirt featuring a picture of Real Americano’s girlfriend — the same woman OG claimed he got fired during their contract signing.
That finally pushed things over the edge. OG and Real started brawling, breaking the “no touching” rule ahead of their match. Security rushed out as the fight spiraled out of control.
Winner: The Creed Brothers vs. Los Americanos ended in a no contest.
Rey Mysterio Jr. came out and tried to calm everyone down. He announced that the Mask vs. Mask match would still happen next week no matter what. The brawl continued as security and the locker room emptied to separate everyone while the show went off the air.
