WWE Friday Night SmackDown is set to undergo a significant shift as it moves from FOX to the USA Network starting this week. Originally scheduled for October, this transition was expedited due to FOX’s decision to move several September episodes to FS1 to accommodate college football. As a result, USA Network agreed to take over SmackDown earlier than planned, ensuring fans get to enjoy the show uninterrupted. Naturally, WWE fans want to be a part of history.

The move follows a new five-year deal between WWE and USA Network, marking the end of SmackDown’s four-year run on FOX. While WWE had planned to make the switch later, the change happened sooner than expected, giving the company the chance to showcase SmackDown in a big way. As anticipated, the company has loaded up the upcoming episode with major matches and storylines.

Ticket sales for the event have been strong, with WrestleTix reporting that 12,478 tickets have already been sold, leaving 1,374 available. The venue has moved 201 tickets in just the past three days. For comparison, the last WWE event held at this venue, the April 10th episode of Monday Night Raw, sold 10,520 tickets.

SmackDown has a long history of network changes. First debuting on April 29, 1999, as a special on UPN, it originally used the Raw set. Over the years, the show moved from Syfy to USA Network in 2010 before eventually landing on FOX in 2019. Now, after five years on FOX, SmackDown returns to USA Network, marking a new chapter in the show’s storied history.

With this highly anticipated move, WWE is clearly positioning SmackDown to maintain its momentum as a premier wrestling show. As the return to USA Network kicks off, fans can expect big matches, more high-profile rivalries, and the continued evolution of one of WWE’s flagship programs.

This week’s stacked lineup is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting new era for Friday Night SmackDown. Headlining the show, Cody Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa inside a steel cage, promising a thrilling main event.

As part of WWE Week on USA Network, the episode will also feature a high-stakes match between Andrade and Carmelo Hayes in their fifth encounter, continuing their intense rivalry. Additionally, Kevin Owens will team up with a mystery partner to face the A-Town Down Under duo of Austin Theory and Grayson Waller, adding even more excitement to an already action-packed night.
