The September 9 edition of Monday Night RAW emanated from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and saw the return of hometown hero Bret “The Hitman” Hart. However, in the same segment, fellow Canadian Sami Zayn decided to pay homage to one of the NHL players from Calgary.

As Bret Hart was in the ring addressing his Canadian fans and WWE history, the arrival of the current World Heavyweight Champion, GUNTHER, prompted the arrival of the current World Heavyweight Champion. The Ring General started with praise for The Hitman, only to berate him in front of his hometown crowd, citing Goldberg as his favourite star instead of Bret.

At that very moment, Sami Zayn, who has cited Bret Hart as a life-long hero, came down to the ring to confront The Ring General. However, the interesting part here is that Zayn was wearing the Number 13 jersey of the Calgary Flames Hockey team, which belonged to the late Johnny Gaudreau.

Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, were in an unfortunate car accident by an alleged driver while cycling on August 29, 2024, in Oldmans Township, New Jersey. Moreover, not only Sami Zayn but the fans also left flowers, his iconic jerseys, and other artefacts outside the Saddledome to commemorate the legacy of Johnny Gaudreau, who has been laid to rest today.
