The Undertaker made a surprise appearance at WrestleMania 40 on Sunday to assist Cody Rhodes in defeating Roman Reigns. However, fans felt Steve Austin should have been there instead and now the reason for his absence has been revealed.

The entire event reached a climax when Cody Rhodes faced off against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in a high-stakes match. The “Bloodline Rules” stipulation added pressure and uncertainty to the challenge faced by Rhodes, also known as the American Nightmare.

As tensions rose during the match, The Final Boss executed a Rock Bottom on John Cena, creating a dramatic moment. Then, the iconic sound of The Undertaker’s gong echoed through Lincoln Financial Field. The arena was enveloped in darkness as The Undertaker made his presence known. He delivered a chokeslam to The Rock and quickly vanished, leaving the audience stunned.

WWE was in talks to involve ”Stone Cold” Steve Austin in some capacity during WrestleMania 40 weekend, but he never appeared at the show. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was noted that Austin was supposed to be in the spot The Undertaker was but it didn’t happen as they couldn’t reach a financial agreement.

Undertaker’s gong hit and he choke slammed and took out Rock. Austin was the person originally earmarked for that spot, but in the end they couldn’t reach a financial agreement and Undertaker was put in his place.

We will have to wait and see whether The Texas Rattlesnake will appear at next year’s WrestleMania, as this one simply couldn’t happen due to financial reasons. Nevertheless, fans certainly missed Steve Austin at the Show of Shows.
