Cody Rhodes unexpectedly left AEW in February 2022, stunning fans. During his time in the promotion, Rhodes was known for his standout performances and for elevating other talent in the ring. CM Punk made some inflammatory remarks about Tony Khan and now Cody Rhodes has reacted to the same.

During his appearance on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, CM Punk talked about his time in AEW. Punk candidly assessed the AEW President and stated that he is detrimental to AEW, adding that he doesn’t consider Khan as a real boss.

“He’s not a boss. He’s a nice guy. And I think ultimately that is a detriment to the company. But it’s not my company. I’m an outsider.”

While speaking to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, Cody Rhodes was asked about CM Punk’s comments and he disagreed with Punk, making it clear he was proud of what he, The Elite and Tony Khan did with AEW.

“That is his assessment. It is not my assessment. It’s always important for me to remind people that I am so proud of what me, Matt, Nick, Kenny, Tony, Bernie, Brandy, and Dana, and Chris. And I name all these people because I was in those meetings. As much as the Internet will try to spin a narrative one way, if one of those people had not been at that startup level, the company have happened. And I am so proud of what was created. I am so insanely proud of what it does for the industry overall.”

“I love Matt, Nick and Kenny. And I love CM Punk. I don’t know how, but I do.”
