The Rock made long-awaited return to Monday Night RAW earlier this month. During his appearance, he hinted at a potential showdown with Roman Reigns, creating excitement and anticipation among fans. He also had a backstage interaction with Cody Rhodes and this ended up sparking speculation for a WrestleMania clash.
As previously reported, The Rock met up with quite a few people backstage during his appearance on WWE RAW Day 1 and this included Cody Rhodes. The two even shared an embrace during their exchange.
Sean Ross Sapp, sharing insights behind Fightful’s paywall, discussed the ongoing discussions about The Rock and Cody Rhodes potentially facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, highlighting the anticipation surrounding one of the biggest WrestleManias in history.
Notably, images emerged from the WWE Raw Day 1 event capturing a backstage embrace between The Rock and Cody Rhodes near Gorilla position. The exchange, caught on camera by The Rock’s team and a WWE photographer, conveyed a supportive nature toward Cody Rhodes and his recent endeavors.
It was reported that those present felt The Rock’s presence wasn’t intended to obstruct anything, emphasizing support rather than interference. This interaction occurred before The Rock delivered his “Head of the Table” line, surprising many who were unaware it was coming. It was further added that The Rock has been a supporter of Cody Rhodes since his AEW days.
”There has been much discussion regarding The Rock and Cody Rhodes, who will face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, and how things will work out around what could be one of the biggest WrestleManias of all time. Images emerged from the WWE Raw Day 1 event of The Rock and Cody Rhodes embracing backstage. We’re told it was right outside of Gorilla position and was caught on camera by both the Rock’s team, as well as a WWE photographer. Several people were around to hear the exchange.”
”We were told that the nature of the exchange, which was before Rock’s promo, was that of support to Cody Rhodes and what he’s been doing. Those that we spoke to said that they got the feeling that The Rock wasn’t there to “stand in the way of anything,” but did note it was before his promo and most didn’t know his “Head of the Table” line was coming.”
”We’re also told by sources close to The Rock that he’s long been a proponent and supportive of Cody Rhodes, even while he was in All Elite Wrestling.”
Cody Rhodes is also certain no one can derail his WrestleMania 40 story. The Rock’s status for WrestleMania 40 after his TKO position has been revealed as well. We will have to wait and see if Cody Rhodes or The Rock ends up main eventing WrestleMania 40 this year.
