Samoa Joe defeated MJF for the AEW World Championship at Worlds End and immediately made it clear he would be a strong champion. Prior to his win, there has been a lot of drama in AEW and Joe has now stated that he wants to get rid of all the ‘petty stuff’ in AEW.

For the past couple of weeks, AEW has been surrounded by controversy, with the likes of Chris Jericho’s allegations right before Worlds End coming to mind. That’s not all as Tony Khan made lot of noise on Twitter after having a meltdown as well.

While speaking in a new interview with Sports Illustrated, Samoa Joe reiterated his commitment to a focus on in-ring accomplishments during his reign as AEW World Champion.

The Samoan Submission Machine expressed a desire to shift attention back to the conflicts within the ring and away from ‘petty stuff’ that has been taking place outside the squared circle.

“I understand the world of professional wrestling. I’ve seen things work at a very high level, and I understand the type of people backstage that it takes for that to happen. I try to be that person.”

As champion, you’re the standard-bearer. I’m more than happy to take up that mantle. I really want to make a focus of getting the fans’ attention back on the conflict in the ring, and a lot of the petty stuff needs to melt away. Let’s get back to entertaining people.”

Samoa Joe is set to appear on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, which will be the homecoming edition of the show emanating from Daily’s Place at Jacksonville, Florida. We’ll have to see what Joe has in store for fans at the event.
