MJF is currently dealing with multiple injuries, with the most serious being a shoulder injury. These injuries have sidelined him from in-ring competition in AEW.

The extent of MJF’s injuries was detailed by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. MJF is reportedly suffering from a torn labrum in his shoulder and a hip injury, which he sustained during a high-impact elbow drop off the top rope to the floor in his match against Jay White at Full Gear. Of these injuries, the shoulder issue is considered the most severe.

MJF is faced with a difficult decision regarding treatment. He is contemplating whether to undergo surgery for his shoulder, which could potentially keep him out of action for several months, possibly close to a year. Alternatively, he is considering a rehabilitation approach to allow his shoulder to heal naturally. Ultimately, he will work with medical professionals to determine the best course of action.

“MJF worked the match in great pain with his torn labrum, as well as hip injury from the crazy elbow drop off the top rope to the floor in the Jay White match at Full Gear.”

“The shoulder injury is the most serious. He’s hoping to have it heal through rehab rather than surgery, because surgery would put him out for months, and he was told perhaps close to a year, which he wants to avoid.”

“But long-term, he’s young and getting this fixed long-term could be a lot better than it constantly being a problem for the rest of his career.”

“As of now, he and doctors will determine what direction he tries.”

Regarding his status in AEW, it’s important to note that MJF’s free agency has been incorporated into storyline elements. He was removed from the AEW roster page shortly after the Worlds End pay-per-view on December 30, 2023.

Ringside News extends its best wishes to MJF for a full and speedy recovery from his injuries.
