MJF defended his AEW World Title at Worlds End but suffered defeat, with Samoa Joe emerging as the new champion. It was a known fact that MJF was dealing with several injuries before the event and now it appears MJF might just need shoulder surgery.

At the main event of AEW Worlds End, MJF went head-to-head with Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship. Despite MJF’s valiant efforts, including executing an F5 on Joe, he couldn’t endure Joe’s relentless offense. Samoa Joe ultimately dismantled MMJF and became the new champion.

It was then reported that MJF would be taking some time off to recover from his injuries. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about MJF’s injuries and what he will do about them.

Meltzer noted that MJF’s shoulder is the major problem right now and he may try to rehab it. Judging by the severity of the shoulder injury, it was noted that MJF might need shoulder surgery, which would put him on the shelf for a long time.

He’s going to have to rehab the shoulder, which is the main problem. Or he may need surgery. Just judging how servere the shoulder was, he may need surgery which would put him out for a while. He’s still debating on what tact to take.”

MJF was also removed from the official AEW roster, which led to lot of discussions. The internal reaction to MJF’s removal was also revealed. Only time will tell how long MJF will remain out of action, should he opt for shoulder surgery.
