Santana and Ortiz made their debut in AEW back in 2019 and almost instantly became one of the mainstays of AEW’s tag team division. Unfortunately, the two are no longer on good terms whatsoever. They eventually split up and never got back together again. Now, the person behind this has been revealed.

Santana and Ortiz made their shocking return last year and aligned themselves with the Blackpool Combat Club for the Stadium Stampede match at the AEW All In pay-per-view. Even then, the two were still not on good terms. That was the last time they teamed together as well.

They had a feud on AEW television that concluded with Santana getting the win on the October 25th edition of Rampage last year. Even then, fans were sad they never got back together for another run.

While speaking to The Shining Wizards Wrestling Podcast, Ortiz revealed that it was not AEW’s decision to end their team. Ortiz revealed that he and Santana were unable to resolve personal matters, and Santana was firm in his decision to no longer continue as a team.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t the company’s call to split us (Santana & Ortiz). Me and Santana just couldn’t get it together personally and he was just very adamant about not working with me anymore. So, the company kind of had no choice but to split us up, right? So they’re like, ‘Okay, you’re just not gonna not tag. It doesn’t make any sense. Let’s at least make this make sense why you split.’

Santana has conspicuously been absent from AEW television since his program with Ortiz ended. Mike Santana is still part of AEW while he is still taking independent bookings. Only time will tell what the future holds for the former tag team.
