CM Punk returned to WWE and that shocked the world. Tony Khan was asked about the Second City Savior’s comeback to WWE, but he responded that he can’t legally talk about it. That might be for the best, because AEW needs to focus on their own business the way Booker T sees it.

WWE presented a huge event in Chicago for Survivor Series. That show was full of fans who were very excited to see CM Punk back in WWE, even though he wasn’t announced or reported to be there at all. In fact, all reports leading up to the event said that Punk and WWE were not talking. Then, Punk returned to light the pro wrestling world on fire.

During his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T remembered telling fans at Survivor Series that CM Punk wasn’t there. This was after they blew up his kickoff show panel with “CM PUNK” chants. Those chants were wishful thinking, and it certainly paid off.

Booker T also expressed the idea that AEW may have a lot of trouble in the Chicago market from this point on. They no longer have CM Punk, and losing that star member of their roster to WWE could have done some long term damage.

I tell you this is a huge blow. That Chicago market, or course, has been huge for AEW. Bringing CM Punk in was a plan to really boost things to the next level, bottom fell out, still tried to run Chicago. Now, it’s gonna be so hard for that company to step back into Chicago without someone like CM Punk.”

Booker T then remarked that this goes back to his old mantra to, “keep your damn mouth shut and take care of your business, and then you may not fall into potholes like this one right here.” It was also noted that this is just one pothole, and those are “just gonna keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger.”

Only time will tell how AEW responds to CM Punk’s WWE return. There are a lot of possibilities, but Booker T would likely advise Tony Khan that he needs to keep his head down and concentrate on AEW business right now.

What’s your take on WWE taking over the Chicago market? Will it make things tougher for AEW after the Windy City got Survivor Series and CM Punk’s return? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
