CM Punk made his highly-anticipated return to WWE at Survivor Series. Now, he has officially embarked on his first feud since rejoining the company. This comes after he dropped some very clever signals during his first promo on WWE RAW in nearly decade.

After nearly a decade away from WWE, CM Punk reentered the wrestling scene at Survivor Series in Chicago. His comeback included a promo on the latest episode of Raw, during which he mentioned being welcomed back by “almost everyone.” This reference alluded to an earlier exchange with Seth Rollins, who had called Punk a “hypocrite.

Sports Illustrated provided an update, confirming that Seth Rollins will indeed be CM Punk’s first feud upon his return to WWE. Additionally, there are future plans for Punk to engage in a feud with Roman Reigns, although this will occur after the Rollins feud.

There are plans for Punk to feud with Roman Reigns, Sports Illustrated has learned. But it will not be Punk against Reigns first, as that spot belongs to Rollins. A feud between Rollins and Punk is a massive positive for both men. Punk can still wrestle at a high-level, but his work will only be enhanced in the ring with a world-class wrestler like Rollins. While it is not the current favorite, there is plenty of reason to believe Punk-Rollins could serve as the main event for the opening night of WrestleMania 40. For Rollins, that would simply not be the case without Punk.

The WWE Universe was very happy to see him return, although some backstage are waiting to see how everything pans out in time. CM Punk’s promo time during that November 27th episode of WWE RAW was actually cut, because Randy Orton vs Dominik Mysterio ran a bit longer than expected.

Only time will tell how this turns out. Roman Reigns will not wrestle again this year, but he is booked for the Royal Rumble on January 27th. We will have to see if CM Punk steps up to the Tribal Chief in the next two months, but this could be some very interesting storytelling.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
