Tony Khan allows many of his stars to take dates outside AEW and ROH. That freedom just allowed two current champions in ROH to join a new stable, but Tony Khan might not have had anything to do with it.

During a recent NJPW event, two AEW stars made a surprising move by aligning themselves with a new faction, even though they were already part of a different stable. This adds even more stars to the list of AEW talent who are making frequent appearances outside Tony Khan’s company.

The NJPW World Tag League event on November 29th featured a trios match that pitted AEW’s Gates of Agony and Yuto Nakashima against HOUSE OF TORTURE’s EVIL, Yujiro Takahashi, and SHO. That included a big surprise when everything was said and done.

HOUSE OF TORTURE emerged victorious in the match, with SHO securing a victory over Nakashima. However, the post-match events garnered attention as the winning team extended a handshake to Gates of Agony and offered them HOUSE OF TORTURE shirts. To everyone’s surprise, Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun accepted the gesture and joined their new stablemates in a celebratory pose.

Currently, Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun hold the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship alongside Brian Cage, marking their second reign as a trio in this capacity. Only time will tell how this situation pans out, but it appears that the Gates of Agony are going to be very busy.

Bishop Kaun later addressed this surprising move during an interview with NJPW backstage, shedding some light on the unexpected turn of events. It appears that he is in the mood to shake things up.

“You think you know whose house it is – but you’ve gotta go through the gates first”

“We never said whose house it was. It was the HOUSE OF TORTURE. You want to get in the house, you’ve got to go through the gates first.”

This development naturally raises questions about Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun’s position within the Mogul Embassy faction, where they are associated with Brian Cage, Prince Nana, and its leader Swerve Strickland.

Gates of Agony’s most recent appearance on AEW television took place during the November 4th episode of AEW Collision. We will keep our eye on this story for more updates, because you never know what will break next in the always-changing world of pro wrestling news.
