CM Punk was fired from AEW, but it doesn’t seem that WWE is interested. A new report is out saying that WWE rejected the Second City Savior’s attempts at getting back with the company.

Rumors of CM Punk’s return to WWE were kicked off in big way when it was reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there are talks between the two sides. After that story circulated last week suggesting that CM Punk is interested in returning to WWE, where it was said sources close to him have indicated ongoing discussions between the parties, a lot has come to light. While the story generated considerable attention, there is no definitive confirmation of his return.

Ringside News exclusively reported that CM Punk wants to create an impression of interest from WWE as he desires to make comeback. He reached out to assess interest, although it has not been reciprocated thus far.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer had an update. It seems that he was off the mark with his previous report about talks between the two sides. It turns out that WWE rejected CM Punk advances, so there were never really talks.

““They turned him down. He wanted to go there, and the decision was a no. It can always change, and it was brought up to me, there’s no such thing as ‘no forever’ when it comes to WWE, but it’s no for now.”

“That was the decision that was made. It’s Vince’s decision. Vince, Nick Khan, Paul Levesque, and obviously they decided that the negatives outweighed the positives.”

You can never say never in pro wrestling, but WWE obviously feels a certain type of way about bringing CM Punk back. They didn’t see it as worth the risk, and they have all the right in the world to feel that way.

Impact Wrestling make still be very interested in signing CM Punk. Only time will tell if he goes that direction, but there is no door open for him in WWE as some have tried to report.
