UPDATE: After reaching out independently to WWE, Ringside News was able to confirm that there have been no negotiations between WWE and CM Punk.

CM Punk debuted in AEW when no one thought it was possible, but the dream quickly turned into a nightmare for the company. Punk was fired by AEW earlier last month and since then, rumors of him making his way back to WWE have been rampant. They have gained more steam now as reports have suggested that his WWE return is a safe bet for Survivor Series this year.

Ringside News exclusively reported that CM Punk made desperate attempt to return to WWE when he was part of the WWE Backstage show a few years ago. Other reports have suggested he was interested in returning to WWE before his AEW comeback earlier this year.

As previously reported, CM Punk is in talks with WWE for return after almost 10 years. According to Nick Hausman in The Haus of Wrestling, it was reported that CM Punk is a safe bet for Survivor Series this year.

The general belief within WWE at this time is that if Punk does come back, it will be on the main roster, which Michaels seems to agree with. One WWE source told me they feel it is a “safe bet” he will be at Survivor Series.

WWE is keeping the CM Punk references coming every week and this continues to build anticipation for his return. It remains to be seen whether The Second City Saint will make his triumphant return to WWE during Survivor Series next month.
