Lex Luger was one of the top stars in WWE and WCW during the 80s and 90s, as his incredible physique and charisma made him a genuinely beloved Superstar. However, his WWE departure was a shocker to Vince McMahon and now Luger has alleged that Linda McMahon told her husband Vince McMahon to never hire Luger again.
Lex Luger was such a big star back in the day that many believed Vince McMahon was grooming him to replace Hulk Hogan as the top star of the company. That said, Luger made his shocking debut on the September 4, 1995 episode of WCW Nitro.
The pro wrestling legend finished up his final match of his contract a day before his WCW debut, in a dark match. While speaking on the AdFreeShows podcast network, Lex Luger claimed that Linda McMahon didn’t like the way he left WWE since he never told Vince McMahon of his plans. Luger further claimed that Linda McMahon told her husband Vince McMahon to never hire him again.
“When I walked out, because of my close relationship I always had with Vince, I guess Vince was very hurt, which if I could do over, nowadays I probably wouldn’t have done it that way, I would think. But I heard that Linda talked to him and said, ‘If you ever bring him back in here…’ Because she loves her husband. It was like a protective moment. ‘Don’t you ever bring that man back in here.’ Because Vince, I guess, it was jaw-dropping.”
Lex Luger also confirmed that he is currently under contract with WWE as an ambassador. There are many who also want Luger to get inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame even now, so it remains to be seen whether that will ever happen.
