CM Punk has never failed to burn bridges with almost every promotion he has worked with, especially with WWE. His fairytale run with AEW came crashing down far too soon as he made a mess of things in the company. Now it appears Punk was blamed for not being the adult in the room during AEW’s backstage fiasco.
CM Punk ended up ruining his reputation after AEW All Out last year, where he was involved in a backstage brawl with The Elite. When he came back to AEW as part of Collision, fans thought things couldn’t get any worse.
That wasn’t the case as CM Punk and Jack Perry had been suspended following their backstage confrontation at AEW All In, which eventually led to Tony Khan firing CM Punk. Khan would then provide the reason behind Punk’s firing.
While speaking on his Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Konnan talked about CM Punk’s role in AEW’s backstage drama. Konnan blamed Punk for not being the adult in the room throughout AEW’s backstage fiasco.
“He was around a lot of immature people, but he himself did not handle it maturely. He should’ve been the adult in the room and he acted more of a kid than they did. He should’ve set the example not try to be a tough guy and challenge everybody to a fight. You are trying to unite a locker room with a lot of young kids that need leadership. They need somebody to look up to bro and you weren’t that person.”
CM Punk chants also broke out during the WWE Superstar Spectacle event. We will have to wait and see what will become of the Second City Saint in the end.
