CM Punk has never failed to burn bridges with almost every promotion he has worked with, especially with WWE. His time in AEW ended far too soon as he was fired last week after a lot of backstage unrest. Now it appears Tony Khan has been blamed for the situation surrounding CM Punk in AEW.

CM Punk ended up ruining his reputation after AEW All Out last year, where he was involved in a backstage brawl with The Elite. When he returned to AEW as part of Collision, fans had hoped he would be a better man.

That wasn’t the case as CM Punk and Jack Perry had been suspended following their backstage confrontation at AEW All In, which eventually led to Tony Khan firing CM Punk. Khan would then provide the reason behind Punk’s firing.

While speaking on his Jim Cornette Experience podcast, Jim Cornette discussed Tony Khan’s decision to fire CM Punk following his AEW All In physical altercation with Jack Perry. Cornette blamed Khan for the whole situation in the first place .

“So again if Perry hadn’t f*cking mouthed off and just gone and done his garbage pre-show match, then nothing would have happened. And if nothing would have happened, then Punk would be on the pay-per-view in the United Center in Chicago and people wouldn’t be f******* all over Twitter and all over Chicago and all over the wrestling world going Tony Khan is a f******* d****** p*****.

“He’s brought this on himself and I said at the top of the thing, sometimes the bad guys win. It’s actually it’s a win for everybody except the fans and Tony. Punk doesn’t have to put up with these f******** children anymore. He’s old, he’s tired, he’s hurting. He works with children. Well, you don’t have to work with children. You don’t have to get hurt anymore from working with the children. He’ll still be old. And maybe you’ll get better sleep. So he’s going to improve his situation.”

AEW President Tony Khan also refused to comment on CM Punk having non-compete clause after his contract termination. Only time will tell what’s next in store for The Second City Saint.
