CM Punk’s time in the media scrum after All Out 2022 was sight to behold. The fact that AEW hasn’t targeted every video of his burial of AEW’s EVPs is somewhat surprising, because they’ve targeted videos in the past that were far less damning. Now that CM Punk is interested about a return to the company, the rumor mill is churning, but The Elite might not be interested.

The Elite and CM Punk threw down for real in the Second City Savior’s locker room after All Out. Ace Steel was also involved, he bit Kenny Omega during the melee, and he was fired. Punk is not gone from AEW, and a return could be on the horizon.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez addressed the story about CM Punk pitching ideas for his return. The idea of teaming with FTR against The Elite in Wembley Stadium at All Out 2023 is an interesting thought, but Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks might not be down.

I haven’t heard a word about Kenny Omega or the Young Bucks wanting to work with CM Punk. If you watch the AEW All Access show, they’re still upset about it. Matt Jackson said it was the worst six weeks of his life. There is no word that they want to wrestle CM Punk and FTR. I haven’t heard a peep that they want to work with Punk.

CM Punk should be all healed up from his injury. It was also noted that, “there’s a reason why he hasn’t been released” from his AEW contract yet. Yes, there were early reports about a contract buyout, but that did not happen.

We’ll have to see what’s next for CM Punk and AEW. His music could always break out at any time and signify his return to the company. So far, that hasn’t happened yet, and The Elite don’t seem too keen on doing business with the Second City Savior.

What’s your take on this situation with CM Punk and AEW? Do you expect to see him back? Sound off in the comments!
